Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil - CCBB

CCBB has a magnificent library with 140 thousand copies about general subjects, as well as three theatres, four video cabins, a movie theatre, two auditoriums, exhibition halls, a tea room and a restaurant. Brazilian movies with subtitles for the hearing impaired are exhibited on Saturdays, at 17h.

The Cultural Center was opened in 1989 as the most complete in the city, its magnificent library with approximately 140 thousand copies approaching general subjects, economy and collections of newspapers..

It has three theatres, four video cabins, one movie theatre, two auditoriums used for ministering courses, lectures and seminars, several exhibitions halls and further, a tea room, a restaurant and a candy shop.

Sessions showing Brazilian movies with subtitles for the hearing impaired on Saturdays, at 17h. The same s room shall be fitted with an audio description system, in order to serve also people with visual disabilities.

Galeria de Valores – (Gallery of Values) - 4th floor
The exhibition shows approximately 2000 pieces of the numismatic collection of Banco do Brasil bank, creating an interactive space that tells us the history of coins, in Brazil and around the world: Rare coins and curiosities; The Gold Cycle; Timeline: The history of monetary values in Brazil; The secrets of bills; From coins to credit cards, as well a temporary hall dedicated to Julius Meili, considered the father of Numismatics in Brazil. Curator: Denise Mattar. Sponsored by: Brasilcap.

O Banco do Brasil e Sua História – (The bank of Brazil and its history) – 4th floor
The exhibition, comprising pieces of the Historical Museum and archives collection, tells us the history of Banco do Brasil bank in chronologic order,  in parallel with the economic and financial history of Brazil. The four last modules recreate, with antique furniture, the ambiance at the office of the President of Banco do Brasil during the years between 1937 to 1960.

Iconografia de D. João VI – (iconography of King John 6th) - 4th floor
The Museum holds the exhibition “Iconografia de D. João VI”, comprising part of the collection of Banco do Brasil bank. There are oil paintings, gravures and various objects on the hallways of the 4th floor, and highlighting a work by Debret.

Open: Tuesdays to Sundays, 10am to 9pm.
